Default '03 1500 QC: Cobra 75 CB install

Yeah, I know, its heavy tech, but this thing went in so slick I had to share

So, I got this off kjiji locally:

Time to install. 1 screw, and the whole centre dash panel falls off. And behind the heater controls is:

Nothing. Perfect Mount the base unit here:

2 small holes for the 2 screws & nuts (plus a little lock-tite to keep it good) 1 big hole to run the mic wire and:

Overall look:

Wiring. The lower cig lighter is constant 12V, so a quick tap, and a solid ground on an existing screw to the floor:

External speaker installed in glovebox. plenty loud

Size: 79.1 KB

Mag-mount antenna on the roof:

And final interior shot:

When I unhook the mic, I can tuck the wire into the under-radio pocket, and there's no evidence. Slick

Also, props to the guys in my previous thread who pointed me to the constant 12V source.

Good looking install dude. Love the clean appearance. Just as side note what the hell is going on with your head unit? It looks pushed in.

That's because it is. I angled it towards the driver's seat so I can see it better in the sunlight

lol, cool little cb. Mine takes up so much room and I never use it except to listen on every now and then. Might have to swap it out for something like this.

That's actually really smart man and having it sort of recessed like that also must help with the glare at night and during the day.

if you are experiencing problems like picking up engine noise or something then it's a good thing to extend the CB ground wire to the battery so the ground voltage is the same unlike what it may be like if you just ground it to some steel in the cab
