I've driven 4.7 auto and manual in both Dak's and Rams.

I personally don't like the manual trans that is put in these trucks. I'd rather drive an auto too, but then again i am getting old..lol

240hp/295tq is what is listed HERE

Sufficient power, but nothing to brag about is all i am saying. Being it's a 2wd, it will def be a faster truck than a heavier 4wd one.

I'd say this biggest restriction to the older 4.7's are the heads. cams will help, but by the time you invest all that money you could have had a Hemi with more power to boot.
2wd means you can throw 4:56's back there for the ultimate mod and not worry about doing the front so it will be the best cheapest mod you could do.

I think you should test drive it, I'm pretty sure you'll like it. Just give it a shot.

Congrats on having a wife who actually prefers a manual. I thought I was the only one, there is something so sexy about a woman who knows how to handle a stick!
For what it's worth I have a v6 qc with 6speed and it does fine for what I need it for. I also love the gas mileage I get with it. In 2008 they upgraded the 4.7 to 310hp and like 330tq so that's another route you could go. 2008 was also last year for manual.

Wow, 2008? really??? I thought manual transmissions disapeared long before that. just kidding. I really hate the fact that manuals are so rare anymore. that simple sad fact says a lot about our society as a whole. Maybe I should Open a new driving school again to focus on "offensive" driving practices.

Is or was the Hemi offered in the Ram with a manual without being a 3/4 ton or above or a 4x4?

Nosir, no manny option in a 1/2 hemi ram.

-I'm pretty pleased with my 4.7. As absurd as it sounds, I'm almost glad I ended up with the smaller motor, I drive the **** outta my wife's truck, which has the Hemi in it. Im sure Id be getting in a lil more trouble with the added hp's.....

-As far as I know, the H.O. 4.7 wasn't offered in the Ram, def. could be wrong though.

-Gas mileage isn't too different b/t the two motors. Acutally, the ol' lady gets slightly better than I do. She avg's 12.5-13mpg 'round town, according to the overhead (not exactly accurate, but apples to apples when comparing to my overhead). My overhead will say anywhere from 10-12.5mpg. It hit 13.5mpg the other day while on a short road trip. I def. need some tuning up, cause it shouldnt be that bad. Just a little more FYI.

-As mentioned, '08 is the last year of the manual in the Ram, period.

-+10000 on having a wife that can drive a straight-drive. I too find it purrty hot when a chick can row through the gears, aggresively. Now saying that, Im glad my ol lady doesn't even know how to start one, saved my Mustang from a couple clutches

-+1 on giving the test drive a go, don't knock it till ya try it

-The 20's might be factory, that started in '02 (you might know this already)

-Not that its any of my business, but why in the hell would anyone want rollup windows and pushbutton locks? Besides being slightly cheaper, or for a dragracing application (weight), I don't get it. Just curious....

DO IT!!!!!!!!!
