17 in. rims vs. 20 in. rims with 35 in. tires?
You just proved my point (and contradicted yourself besides), I conceded that for the average 4x4 owner, 20's would be fine in my post.
My issue was that you stated "rim size has NOTHING to do with what the truck can do". That is the only part of your post I disagree with...
And then you contradicted yourself by saying "obviously you cant run 26s and wheel" so wouldn't you agree that rim size DOES have something to do with it?
Not looking to get nit-picky, just making my point.
When you come across a guy with a set of 15s on a full size truck and the same diameter tires as you, air 'em both down and look at the footprint, big difference.
And even when not aired down, drive both and tell me that yours doesn't feel like it's beating you to death compared to the truck with 15s...
Now also if both of you read my posts, I DID NOT attack someone just because I disagreed with a statement. I said the statement IMO was ridiculous, but nothing about the person making such statement OR his ride. You wanna disagree and debate something, I'm all for it and probably do it on forums a dozen times a week. Prove me wrong and I'll admit it.
But you wanna go making things personal and taking jabs at him or his truck, you can do so either by PM or find another truck forum...

as for the 26's comment, thats because noone makes an MT in a 26. that would be ridiculous. Kumho makes a VERY capable tire for a 24 however.

MMM.. yummy. Now i doubt youll see these start popping up on robby gordons truck, or at a rock crawling event, but the OP does neither of those. Yet again, rim size isnt really going to effect him.
22s and 37s working..

my point was, to the average consumer, rim size will not matter. rides gonna suffer a bit, but handling will be a little better due to less sidewall flex.
+1 for creativity
-1 for still knowing the name of an MC hammer album in 2010.
Geez, how come everytime i post i have to defend myself and be a part of a big debacle just because i dont like the same stuff you guys do? Are you that closed minded? Guess what? i have a LIFTED 2wd. on 35's. and 20x10" rims. I dont like chrome. I laugh at people who have stick on parts. i think brush guards and running boards are tacky. blah blah blah. i could go for days. but isnt the whole part of customizing a truck about individuality?
Theres a lot of trucks on here i dont like. Theres alot of people on here who dont like mine. Great! i pay my truck payment, you pay yours. Deal? done. The OP asked an opinion, which size wheels and tires to get. Of course im going to post what i have, because i think it looks best. The "City boy" and similar comments are just as out of place as my talking about dude's running boards. My point being, if youre going to voice your opinion, dont get upset when someone else posts theirs.
I did what the OP asked, and then people started busting ***** about rim size. Like im all of a sudden in a Master P music video because im running 20s.
Times are a changing guys, 15s arent for everyone anymore. Some open mindedness would go a long way here.
Cheers.
PS-its the internet, stop taking it so serious.
I wasn't directing that only to you. Seemed to me both of you were on the brink of getting rather personal.
I know times are changing, fads come and go. The average truck buyer is almost ten years younger than just 15 years ago, and truck companies have adapted. My guess is you'll see 22s stock on trucks before too long. Functionality went out the window a long time ago, today it's all about what looks cool and sells...

You know what guys every truck on here is great and should be looked at this way.
The fun of looking at all the trucks and what people are doing is to see what you like and what you don't.
I have friends that are running 20" and beat the sh** out of there truck and others running 17" doing the same.
I have 18" they are great and I like them but I friends that they were not for them.
To to everyone on here thanks for all the great pictures and ideas I have a great time looking!
Thats what it's all about!

But like you said, its all a fad. in the late 80s early 90s, you could get "custom conversion" trucks with super-sano running boards, fade paint jobs, 15" sawblade wheels, sweet cab visors, etc etc. Its a fad. Every generation likes the way they had it when they were young. Like the old school hot rodder guys that hate imports. Or the lifted guys who hate lowered trucks, so on, so forth. Everyone has their own taste. You wheel on your 17's and ill wheel my 20's. Diversity is what makes it fun. Who knows, in 10 years (if it takes that long) i could be on a truck forum somewhere, talking about the glory days of 20" rims and mud tires when everyone is running tank tracks and airless tires.
in the end, were all spending money well never get back on trucks that burn way too much gas, dont hold resale value, and are hard to park. But it sure is fun isnt it?

we may not agree on wheels, but we agree on wanting a good looking, functional truck. and as long as both of those things are well executed, youve gotta appreciate that.
Heres to wasting money on our big, loud, gas guzzling toys that make us
every time we walk into the parking lot.Cheers.

Srt 10s, escalades, denalis, and some fords come with 22's now. (most of those have air ride to make up for the lack of ride quality though)

i came this close *holds fingers close together* to getting monsters. I wanted rockstars, but at the time nobody in the US had a set of 20x10 in a ram pattern, same with the monsters. So i had to get the mottos.
theyve kinda grown on me though.

hello fellow rammers, new here and had some questions. i have a 2004 ram 1500 with the stock 17" wheels i want to put a 17" wheel with a 4.75" back space so my wheel comes off the spindle a bit. i have a 6" lift with 315/70/17 now and i cant get my pinky between the tire and spindle and i already have a 1/4" spacer. so i just want to know if the 4.75" backspace will give me more room without putting the tire to far out of the wheel well.
Ahh the great rim debate. All I can say is I miss my 80's fords with 15" rims, I wish I would have kept one for offroading cause it was way more capable then the ram and it didnt mind the dents. I could air those things down to around 7 psi no prob.. As for 20's, technically you can go "4x4ing" with them, my buddy has 20s on his ram and he goes up logging roads and almost everywhere I go with my truck (except he wont follow when I start pinstriping the truck). Whoever posted the videos I cant remember, made good points, but personally I dont think thats 4x4ing... No offence to anyone but I can take my truck through a foot of mud and leave it in 2wd. When I think of 4x4ing, I see riverbeds, tree stumps, big *** rocks, less then a foot of clearance on each side and stuffing your r/r and l/f tires so far into your wheel well its rubbing the inner fenders, at the same time!! This type of stuff you cant do with 20 inch rims, the smaller the better and the least amout of air you can keep in without bustin a bead. But just so no one starts bitching Ill say you can, but itll be because buddy with the winch is pullin your *** up every obstacle..
