2005 5.7L Problems. Need help
Hi there,
I recently bought a 2005 5.7L 2door short bed with 65,000 miles on it. It looks great on the outside but I have noticed a few problems with it mechanically.
1) There is a vibration in the drivers side front tire whenever I turn to the right?
2) It seems to have a loud whistling/whining sound all the time (almost like it has a supercharger)?
3) I just noticed today that whistling/whining noise gets a lot louder when I turn the steering wheel (especially when the truck is not moving)?
4) Sometimes when I step on the gas the car takes off slowly and other times it launches?
5) The seats in my truck are pretty crappy. Does anyone know where I can get new/lightly used seats?
6) I was thinking about trying to get a little more power out of the truck. Does anyone have any recommendations on which items work best? (Exhuast, throttle body, chips?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know much about cars so if you respond please try to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks so much!
Dennis

I'm betting that 1, 2, & 3 are related to your power steering. Make sure their is enough fluid in it and that it's not leaking. The power steering on the Ram uses ATF +4 instead of regular power steering fluid.
#4 clean your throttle body.
#5 Craigslist or a Pick n Pull, or you could buy new covers, like Katzkins.
#6 Search the forums for info about Cold Air Intakes, Tuners, Exhaust, and check out the FAQ section at the top of the 3rd Gen Ram subforum.
Welcome to DF!

Thanks Pyro. I will definitely try those things and check out the power steering. I wish I would have known about this forum before I bought the truck so I would have known what things typically go wrong with these trucks. Thanks again!
