Cherry Bomb Elite
I checked the threads on mufflers alot lately. Called a pretty reputable shop around town and spoke to him about the vortex and extreme models of cherry bombs muffler. The guy said nicely he wouldn't mess with either because after a year or so of running behind the hemi it wouldn't hold up(rust) I didn't really think this would be an issue. He went on to say the motor builds alot of heat in the exhaust, blah, blah, blah. Is this dude way off base? He said i would like the cherry bomb elite alot better anyways. He said the others have way to much drone anyways. I'm kinda lost now...
sounds like someone does not want to sell a good flowing muffler. I say hogwash to drone! and the elite will be much quieter than what you were asking for. I have a Vortex and love it, best muffler I have ever owned, and if it rusts out I will buy another one!!
look at this page and click on flow rates at the bottom of the page.

Screw that. He wants to sell you what his manager is telliing him to push, or what he has in stock. I found a guy on ebay selling single in, dual out kit for my truck with the cherry bomb extreme for 200. comes with the tips, all i have to do is have someone weld on the tips which are ss not chrome. Just a thought that if you can turn a wrench, you may could get a better deal on what you really want.
CLUELESS! First of all, EVERY cherry bomb uses a high temp finish (whether red or grey) that undergoes a chemical reaction when heated to produce a rust proof berrier. Also, ALL mufflers except the glasspack are made of the same aluminized steel.
Now I'm not saying these mufflers won't rust but, if he is right, the Elite will rust out at the same pace as the Vortex or Extreme!
Also, the Elite is a multiple baffle design, much like Flowmasters. If there is going to be drone, it's going to be from a multi-baffled muffler. Also means the flow rate is less (more restrictive) at 412 CFM, vs. 500 for the Extreme or 578 for the Vortex.
By the way, I HAD drone with my Flowmaster 50HD, not bad but it was there. I have no drone with my Extreme...

The flow rate is a little lower on the elite. This guy was feeding me some serious BS after all it looks like. About that flowmaster hammer, I forgot to say when i first posted, but this guy said the hemi gave the flowmaster so much trouble that they had to go back to the drawing board and totally redesign a muffle specifically for hemi. I believe it was the series 50HD. I was calling BS after hearing that but i thought i'd let you guys help me out on this one. Thanks for the help, Vortex it is

Many guys run the 40 and 44 and love 'em, they just have a little too much drone and don't flow well enough for me. And if you really wanna hear a muffler drone inside the cab, listen to one of these multi-chambered mufflers on a MDS (06+) Hemi...
