Yah that thing... I was under my truck doing an oil change the day after I first read this thread and decided to take a look.. I dunno wtf that this is, it sticks like 6 or 8 inches out of the tcase then attaches to the shaft, like a ball and socket kinda set up. I was wondering what the hell was in there.. stupid *** design i think.. sorry man, no idea what they call it

212 for a new front driveshaft unit plus 80 to install from the stealership so ill do it myself. it'd be nice to find an aftermarket with a greasable u joint instead of a cv tho.

Yah Id keep looking into it, I wonder if you can get a yoke set up on the tcase side and just get a drive shaft made.. a bit more at first but way better in the long run!!

I'm going to call a driveshaft shop probably early next week to see if they can give me any info. I figure there should be a rebuild kit for it and hopefully I won't need to replace the whole driveshaft.

You can have the splined part welded onto a double cardan and eliminate the CV joint up there. Any driveshaft shop should be able to modify your driveshaft for you. If you are going to spend the money, I'd go with getting it modified as opposed to the factory style driveshaft. You will end up with a rebuildable unit that you'll probably never have to rebuild.
