I haven't bothered taking my jetta to the track yet, it's my slow car anyway. 
Supercharged R32 though? Dang. Must be fun.
Inertia brakes suck, but they're better than nothing. I towed an excavator on a large flatbed with inertia brakes and the thing took a good jolt off the line to get the brakes to let go.

If you'll be towing often and don't have the factory hitch, I'd opt for the $90 hitch and a tranny cooler. If you get this stuff put on and don't tow the tranny cooler will still be benefitial.
