What do I need to tow?
Check your bumper, most are rated at 500 tongue wt/5000 trailer wt. Probably a 1" bolt diameter and what ever size ball (2" most common) What are you towing? Also be careful in tight turns as you'll ding up your bumper with the trailer tongue.
I take it you dont have the trailer tow option, but the bumper will do it no problem.
just need to make sure you have the plug for trailer lights as well. if not I'm sure theres a kit you can buy for that.
I had to get one for my yoda, all it does is use the existing plugs going to the tail lights and pigtails off those. very easy install.

The car weighs 3400lbs, I am hoping that U-haul has a rental, if not, I need to look around for a place that does. Thanks for your replies. I have wired trailer lights before, I was hoping that there was already a harness wrapped up in the bumper. I bought this truck used, all the bumper holes have never been tapped, and there are three of them, does this mean that I have the towing package?
[edit] horatio, I had a 2001 Wolfsburg edition, best run was 13.9. I will be towing a Supercharged R32, had a little fender bender in the parking lot

UHaul does rent car trailers and they have integral trailer brakes that work off of their hitch. I know this only because I've rented them too many times since my kid's decided it's not cool to drive his car to the strip...gotta be trailered. As long as your bumper is rated for the weight and you have a normal 4 prong flat wiring connector, you're good.

the trailer tow package has a tow hitch mounted on the frame under the bumper. it also has the 7 prong trailer lights/brake outlet and the flat 4 prong connector.

If you got the tow package you will have a 2 inch square receiver under the bumper. In that case just go by a drawbar and 2"ball to fit. Shouldn't cost you more than about $30.
If you don't have the square receiver, just buy a ball that fits the center hole of your bumper. The 4 pin connector will already be wired and is near your spare tire. Since you have a 4x4 the trailer will probably sit pretty high in the front. You may have problems dragging the rear of the trailer if you use the bumper mount.
