IPOD intergration
I have an interface that plugs into the back of the factory stereo. A small hole for the cable was drilled in the cubby hole above my radio. I plug in my iPod and lay it in the cubby. But the cable will pull out further to reach a mount, or push back in (to lay in the cubby). You will need to use either your DVD input or satellite input on the back of the stereo. You put your radio in whichever mode you choose and play your iPod. It does not charge the iPod so I use a power plug to do that. The interface cost about $125 bucks at a local stereo shop.
The one he is looking at costs less than that and is a turnkey solution that does charge the ipod and allows the use of the steering wheel controls to control it but it plugs into the CD changer port only. There are other models that may work with a sat radio port and then there are models with less features like what you describe above.
