Default Too late to change any of my fluids to synthetic?

I've heard it might be a risk to change to synthetic fluids after going with conventional for too long? How long is too long and does that apply to all the fluids? 5+ years old and 66k miles on conventional as of right now...

Is there a favorite brand and weight for any and all fluids on this board as far as synthetics go? I use Amsoil synthetic in every hole on my bike and I love it. The tranny is so much smoother with the synthetic.
