Oil Pan
Looks like oil is starting to seep out around the seal of my oil pan. Anyone ever drain it drop it and re-seal it? Anything I should look out for and should I use a gasket seal or get the silicone stuff? I am assuming I can just drop it after draining, clean out the pan and clean off the old seal, re-install with new gasket/seal, correct?
There isn't much leaking out, not even noticeable in level on the dip stick, just don't want it to get worse and it annoys me.
Thanks for the help

Check out the front seal. I had the same problem on my Hemi. Replacing the front seal is alot easier and cheaper than droping the pan. I replaced my front seal this month and the leak was fixed. However, since you are a 4X4, the front axle has be dropped for clearance.
Dropping the pan isn't as easy as 1-2-3 like your explaining. it's a PIA. Especially if you have 4wd!
It will be an all day event to say the least working on your back in your garage.
I would reccomend getting under there and spraying degreaser and pressure washing what you can feasably reach while getting under there with the spray wand from the car wash. Once that is all done, get under and wipe it all clean and dry and wait a few days for the leak to appear again or however long it takes.
THEN, you would properly diagnose where the leak is coming from. Nothing like doing a pan gasket to find out a main seal is leaking. then you'd have to do all that work plus alot more all over again.

ooh oooh!!! meee mee mee!
Ive dropped my oil pan, ITS FAR FROM FUN!!
start out by removing the cross member in the way, then youll need to remove the "dust plate" off the trans to reach the bolts in the back.remove all the bolts around the pan and pry like a b!tch to seperate it from the bottom of the engine...the gasket...well is way more than a gasket and when you go pay for it...be ready to pony up $50 for a GASKET lol. its actually a whole metal plate that bolts to the inside and keep the oil pickup tube mounted and in place. good luck, PM me if you have any specific questions!
