Default Underseat box question

Hey guys

So I have the opportunity to pick up an under seat box loaded with two 10's (not sure on brand yet) for 150 bucks

My question is does anybody have one of these preformed boxes? I'm assuming it's an mtx setup as thats the only one I know of other than a fox box.

If so I'm just trying to figure out a comparison to a custom fiberglass box.
I'm after sound quality while still being fairly loud. Am I better to get the box for 150 or is it worth the extra money to have a box built properly?

Thanks in advance
Kyle

i have a sh*tty prebuilt box under my back seat with 2 powerbass 12's and it sounds damn good. its a cheapy box and cheapy subs. and i was used to my super duper setup i had in my durango that would scramble your brain but im happey with my cheappy stuff . i say go for it and save some money!
if you listen to any kinda of bassy music, ie: rap, hip-hop ect ect,, even country i would definatly not get 10's!

this is my box, with my old audiobahns, one was blown and it still sounded good.

I also have a ****ty box that is similar to nims.

I'll tell you this much, I'm basically not happy with it. I mean, it bumps good don't get me wrong, but there isn't a whole lot of airspace my friends single 12" sony xplod with a 1,000 watt amp in a nice big box bumps harder than my system ever could. Something to consider.

150 for subs and box is a very good deal, just don't expect a whole lot of performance out of it.

For me, I wish i got an aftermarket head unit instead of wiring to my stock, and I also wish i got a foxbox.

It's really up to you though, that's a damn good deal. a foxbox is going to set you back almost 200 dollars and that's without the subs.

If you're going for a foxbox setup, you might as well get an aftermarket head unit, or a cleansweep like dirty dog suggested for me.

So basically, if you're looking for a little extra bump you've got a good deal for the cash. If you want a nice big bump then just save up for the foxbox.

Just keep in mind a decent system with speakers is going to set you back about 1500 to 2 grand.

I bought one from texas. Shipping killed me but it was built really nice and came coated in black box liner and came with a sub screen to push the seat up. Its just a kicker shallow mount 10 powered by 350w. I have a new head unit and un amplified boston accoustics speakers in all the doors. I thumps pretty good for what it is but I really like it because its crisp and sounds very very balanced when listening to all types of music.

Seats cost 1800 installed with heat

I already have a full system but currently my two type rs sit on the back seat in a massive box. I'm considering a fox box but shipping is rediculous to me up here so building one is cheaper. I'm not looking to blow the doors off anymore but I want it good and loud when I'm in the mood and just quality the rest of the time.

I had 12's in my car Nim (now in the girls car and the were great but I will never get a system like that into the ram) they sounded great and were loud as hell (152.9dbs) I've got 10's now and they are the best of both worlds but like I said they take up 2/3s of the back seat and now with the leather they seem to like to scare the **** outta me when I brake too hard

Do you guys have a JB's down in Calgary? If so they have pre built wood boxes and if you have subs already just do a sub swap and your good to go. How bad is shipping on the FB? I paid like 200 bucks to get my box amp and sub up here.

Turns out that he doesn't list shipping to canada as even an option anymore on the site... When I emailed him to ask about this his email address is rejecting the messages. I'd really love a foxbox but it doesn't sound like he's going to make that easy...

We don't have a jb's but I work in Edmonton more than Calgary so they might be worth checking out if they are any good?

Well it all depends on what you think. They look to be constructed okay I just have the grey ****ty fabric/carpet they put on. If you got a raw finished box then bed lined it like mine of even primed and painted you would be much happier. As long as it is 5/8" MDF and the seams inside are sealed I wouldn't think twice and jump on it. The place that has the most selection of boxes is the JB's on the west side its at 170st and just south of 178 ave. The southside location has some but I would bet they will direct you to the west or north one anyways.
