What is the inlet and outlet diameter of a stock muffler?
Wanting to change to a 40 series and need to know

 

5.7 is 3" in/3" out.. pretty sure 4.7 is the same.. there was a thread about a week about with the same question and he had a 4.7 to

 

Should be 3" in and out. And since you didn't ask, I'll tell you anyway, unless you've got your heart set on 40 series Flowmaster, look around at other mufflers. Contrary to their name, they don't flow well at all, and drone a cruising speeds.

 

What muffler do you suggest? I want one that rumbles when idling at a stop and when I take off

 

Look into the cherry bomb's. The one I want is the one pyro has now. The cherry bomb extreme. They have other models, but check out youtube also and check out the sounds. See which one you like.

You guys all have cherry bombs? You like them alot? I have a magnaflow on and it was good at first but I had the truck straight piped for a bit then put the mag back on and its brutal now.. Its got a nice rumble at WOT but its really quiet just driving around and cant hear **** at idle.. I want somthing throaty where you can hear the idle.. I was thinkin cherry bomb but wasnt sure, I know the smaller the muffler the better so I was looking at similar magnaflow mufflers to the cherry bombs. just some 8in long 4inch diameter round type but if they are gonna sound just like the bombs then I might as well save some money and go that route??

 

I love my vortex! Best muffler I have ever owned! (I should work for Cherrybomb as often as I say this) but it has a great rumble at idle and screams at WOT!

 

You can hear it rumble at idle, but it's mild mannered when your cruising. When you step on it... she screams. Here's a vid of mine, only revs up to about 2700rpm though. I need to do a driveby video where you can really hear it, but my only working camera is my phone, and the sound quality is terrible.
