I agree with that about Alpine. I had 6"x9" Type "S" in the front and 6.5" Alpine type "S" speakers in the back in my 2003 Ram and it sounded great. You can do component set ups but you will want to get an aftermarket amp to run those for best quality sound. I don't know of any 6"x9" component packages, only 6.5" components for our trucks. I also had an Alpine Head unit that ran those speakers with I think it was 18 watts RMS per channel. I wanted to go with the Alpine Type "R" speakers but I didn't want an additional amp in my truck. IMO I don't think the factory Infinity amp is all that great for aftermarket speakers. The factory radio itself only allows you to turn the volume up so high before it balances the sounds out. Not to mention you have much more tuning available in an aftermarket head unit and better clarity.

Alpine! Go to www.crutchfield.com. You can put in your make, model, and year and it will show you what you can put in...Plug and Play basically!

aftermarket speakers wont work on the factory amp. new speakers are 4ohm and the factory is something weird. for a clean system with out changing speaker sizes, go with alpine type R 6x9 coaxils for the front and 6 3/4 for the rear. Stock, the rear is actually 5 1/4 but bigger ones fit easily. Go with a nice 4ch amp like a alpine mrp-f300 and get a low budget alpine head unit, something in the $150 range. Onlinecarstereo.com has the cheapest prices PERIOD.

These are the correct factory sizes! How hard is it to replace the dash speakers? I understand that with the sport center console (no center seat) you have to remove that in order to get the face of the dash off. that is what i have in my truck. Is that right? If that is the case then would that probably mean I have to go through all that to get the top of the dash off?

ROLLINGDODGE...By swapping out the speakers with aftermarket ones you've basically cut the factory Infinity amplifiers power in half. The factory Inifnitys are 2ohm speakers, aftermarkets are usually 4ohm, so that cuts down on the power.
Post #7 of the second link I sent you! But I see KX250 already told ya!

Save yourself the time and either get an aftermarket amp or run the new aftermarket speakers off the aftermarket HU. The stock Infinity is better that the non-Infinity butit still sucks
