Default best 4.7 exhaust with a k&n drop in

I need alittle help deciding on a good exhaust performancewise without killing my gas milege? But the problem that I have, is sound that I like is on the mustang 5.0 exhaust. I havent heard it on any dodge 1500???? So I guess it don't exist? Or do it?

I'm leaning toward the cherry bomb extreme.

1. You can't really KILL the gas mileage more than it is for our trucks, it may help with the motor being able to breathe better.

2. I would check you tube and just get a few ideas. Listen to what people have on the 4.7. It may give you and idea of what YOU like.

Just a couple thoughts.

I would put it as a mellow (but audible) rumble at idle and pretty extreme at gas. That's what I was thinking he meant.

Cherry bomb has come a long way these days and has a lot of choices. Not just the wide open exhaust people are used to. Very nice sounds.

Also, I believe that mustangs with that sound use a good muffler and an h pipe to get that mellow sound. Don't quote me on that though.

I got the d/o cherrybomb extreme on my 4.7 and its pretty much a legal straight pipe. The inside is a triangular piece of metal to direct the exhaust out both sides and thats it. I don't have tail pipes on it and when I gas it, it sounds like a hurricane blowing out of it and it's embarassing. I don't know if this is because of not having tailpipes or not but I am definetly not satisfied.

Do you just have the muffler with no pipes leading out the back of the muffler??? maybe have it dumped around the back axle with pipe coming out of the muffler or turned to come out in front of the rear tire.

A catback kit should help your mileage or at least not hurt it. What hurts the mileage is when you get that rumble, you want to hear it, so you are heavier on the gas pedal. It's not the exhaust, it's you. I won't say mine sounds like a Mustang GT but that level of sound was what I was after and what I got with my exhaust. I'm happy with it. When you crank it up, you know you just woke up a hemi but didn't wake the neighbors. And when the torque converter locks in, you almost don't hear it anymore. But when you mash the gas, it growls with a nice organized tone, not that raspy mess you hear coming from some other trucks.

Youtube helped alot on soundwise now its the setup. I'm stuck between 40 series flowmaster and magnaflow. But my dilema is figuring out the setup from y to mufflers. uuuuuuugh decisions decisions decisions

2.5 in 3 out of the mufflers or
dual in dual out of mufflers or
3' aft y thru muffler and out or
3' aft y into dual mufflers and out or
single 3' aft y thru mufflers and out

numbers, dimensions, decisions..............oh my
