Question Got my CB today, just gotta figure it out now! Help

My new cobra 29 ltd with bluetooth arrived today and also the k-30 mag antenna.

It seems neat I just gotta get it going.

I was told to hook it up to the battery for less engine noise, so I hopefully can do that or would using the fuse box be the same? directions say use the fuse box. and then also gotta figure out tuning the SWR because I got a plug for the cig lighter and hooked it up to that real fast just to play with it and I was at about 2/3 the whole time.

Would placing the antenna in the center of the roof be best since its a mag mount or what would be? And I was reading that you sometimes have to adjust the antenna height depending on the SWR reading but how would I on the k-30 or is it just not possible.

Lol i didnt think i would get confused on this, but i am....

Use shielded power cable and ground the shield at the battery. Don't leave out the fuse. Yep, if you set the SWR as low as possible, you'll get better reach. Also if the antenna is in the center of the ground plane (the roof), you'll get better coverage. "2/3 the whole time"?

if you dont really understand my best bet to you is go to a local truckin shop and have them set it up for a few bucks aslong as you have it all mounted they can adjust the SWR with a meater witch IMO is the best ..i would lone you mine but its expensive .

yeah thats a good CB. I installed it in my dad's semi last christmas. The blutooth can get a little "feedbacky" if you don't keep the mic away from a speaker.

The antenna should of come with directions on how to tune it. It really is a joke and takes no time at all. You first calibrate the meter on the radio then You check it on one and then on 40. depending which channel its higher on determines if your going to raise or lower the antenna in the base/coil. Sometimes you may need to actually cut the wip doing only an 1/8" at a time. But as for a magnetic antenna and a stock Radio 12 miles is ideal. I'm surprised it went that far. Check this link out it's excellent info

Well here are a couple pictures of where I installed it, also still gives me leg room which is important.

Just now I have to find an actual CB shop or wherever to get it tuned and peaked better.

Also now I been thinking of upgrading to a bigger antenna.... we will see

Yeah I'm looking at bigger antennas now and thinking of where that will mount, I'll be searching for what others have done and hopefully I can mount it somewhere where it won't be too obnoxious and hitting every low thing. Lol

as for finding a cb shop it is being difficult to actually find one, must be rare or just not looked good enough.

And do they make an astatic mic with bluetooth cause I have the Bluetooth radio
