Yeah im kinda stuborn... But also i live in a small town, and would trust myself doing them before any mechanic here..
And the closest place to have them done buy a shop is 180 miles away..
Plus they always say the First is the Hardest so once i get the "hang" of it buy doing the rear, it shouldnt be to hard.. Just gonna be very time consuming to ensure everything is perfect.
Plus after this truck i will no how to do my other one, but ill be going to a 4.88 or 5.13 in that.

But right now im looking at the tools needed..
So does anyone know the Size of the Pinion and Carrier Bearings ?
like 2.5" 2" ? looking to get the right bearing puller

Thanks

In some cases, its not worth buying the tools you need when you are only going to do it one time. I paid a guy 250 to do mine. It was worth it to me.

Are you looking to figure out what your rpm's will be or what? Here is a list of overdrive ratios http://www.rearendparts.com/OD_ratios.html and a gear ratio calculator if you want to just plug in the data http://www.rearendparts.com/pages.php?pageid=16. I'm not sure about the overdrive ratio that the site lists for the 06 and up 545RFE it might still be 0.67 instead of the 0.50 listed, check your rpms at a cruising speed to double check it. You might get more help on dodge talk in the 3rd gen drivetrain section.

im going to go against everyone here and say go for it. how else are you going to learn? i mean, ive never once in my life touched a transmission other than fluid change, and i just installed a torque converter and shift kit. and it all came out perfect. you just have to keep in your mind (and budget) that you are gonna have to fork out some $$ if you do mess up. but i always say, the best way to learn is through mistakes.
