Default 2007 RAM HEMI QuadCab Transmission Question.

Ok so I've noticed that when I shift gears (Automatic) from park to neutral or from neutral to drive and etc that if you look under the truck at the drive shaft going into the rear end it seems like it's "grinding" and then makes a "pop" noise before it seems to catch. It's still under warranty so I took it to the Dodge dealer and told them what was going on and they came back and said it wasn't the drive shaft, but that it was the transmission, and that it's normal for that type of transmission to make those noises.... he said it's common on the HEMI's and that just sounds weird to me.... does anyone else know anything about this? or if you have an 07 QC does yours do this too? also at idle with nothing going on in the truck it drops to 500 rpm's and sounds like it's struggling, I also brought that to the mechanics attention and he said it was 3 quarts low on transmission fluid so he filled it up and said that fixed it...... I drove it today and it's doing it again unless I turn the A/C on then it idle's at 600 and sounds fine, has anyone had this problem either? or know what to do to fix it?. Thanks.

They are noisy during gear changes (D to R etc) but I haven't noticed idle dropping.

ok thanks. I asked this same question on another forum and they all told me that it shouldn't be noisy you are the first to say it actually is.

The drivetrain slop is a little noisy on Dodge Rams. This is my first none GM vehicle. It seemed noisy to me, excessive too. I even have a noise from 1st to 2nd. I'll bring it back to the dealer in the Spring, but so far....."It's normal" from the dealer

maybe your idle speed is too low and the torque coveter isn't filling up,
mine idles around 600-650
my 05 has a bit of delay from P to R or D kinda feels like when you put it in park and rolls until the pin catches
also this is my first auto so i could be completely wrong lol good luck

Mine does not do any of that. RPM's I will check and let you know but does not sound right to me! 3 quarts low is pretty excessive, how long was it that low?

Make sure your not leaking any fluid on the ground after it sits overnight!
