Default Subs

Not sure if there are any audio guys on here, but I just sold all my old sound system stuff and am buying a new one. Looking at the 12" mtx 9500, hifonics 2412, jl13w7, and hcca 12.2, and ill probably go with the orion in a ported box with the hifonics brutus 2600 rms amp or the power acoustic BAMF amp. giving it a shot and just wondering if anyone has an opinion on here with what I should go with.

thanks alot,

tom

back in highschool my friend use to go through subs left and right (they didnt die, he was just always switching them out). and the best one he ever had was some basic jl 10" and man that thing was crystal clear and hit. ive got MTX's now and no complains there either. if your goin 2600 watts, might want to get a cap too? then hope you have a good battery and a 100 amp alternator

i got a 260 amp alternator and a 3900 watt battery so Im set in that department. there is a pretty cool competition on youtube where all those subs compete against the hcaa and it blows everything out of the water. plus they are all about the same price. they all look sick. the jl tho needs its own custom 300$ box so ehh. its probably between the mtx and hcca and in the end ill prolly get the hcaa if theres nothing negative i find about them

are you planning on replacing a back seat for this sub because i know for a fact a sub like the hcca won't fit under the back seat.

hahaha no obviously not. I am putting it in a big ported box on the back seat. I went from 2 tens under the seat to two 12s in sealed box on seat and loved it infinitely more so now Im doing one big 12 on the back seat because the double set were just to big, but sounded awesome in my truck. I guess Im going to go with the hcaa then since I haven't found any opposition anywhere

I'd say go the 9500. A guy I work with has that running off the mtx amp suitable for it and it is crystal clear and hits like hell!

Also fits on his fold flat floor on the 40 side of his 60/40 folding seat.

I also have been through tons of Audio equipment like, JL, Alpine, MTX, Rockford, Orion, Kicker, etc. I vote for Alpine head unit because they have some of the best outputs, Alpine components, and JL Audio Amp/Subs. I have never had anything as clean and strong as my JL Audio/Alpine setups. I believe the president of PPI moved over to JL audio when JL first started making Amps and PPI was amazing too IMO. JL Amps are mostly pure wattage unlike alot of these other brands. My 500/1 JL amp hit harder than a 1000 watt Soundstream amp I had. Its all what you personally prefer though, everyone is different! I blew a couple MTX's, a Kicker but never a JL Audio!

i've been hearing about JL and Alpine being the real deal latley.. not much a kicker fan.. they hit pretty hard, but there is no quality..and sometimes the beats are off.. and there highs arn't strong.

My buddy owns a stereo shop and set me up with 2 12w7s in a custom ported box with a 1200.1 3000watt max DD amp. It sounded amazing but was pricey for the w7s. The best setup we have found so far taht doesnt take up an extreme amount of space is 2 12" digital design 9500 series subs with a 3000.1 Elevation audio amp (rms watts) or one of the DD amps. Digital design is all hand made in the USA, only bad part is to get the warranty you have to buy from a licensed dealer.

the good thing about the high end amps like JL and the alpine pdx amps are that they push out the rated rms power regardless of the ohm resistance. So you can have them set at 4 ohm for perfect sound and the same power. you probably already know but don't chince out on amps or the wiring or the box.
