Turn Downs aren't any louder or quieter than side or rear exit, the volume is mostly a result of what muffler you run. I left the front resonator on mine so it is a little quieter than it would be if I had removed it,I just didn't want the drone of a loud exhaust on an MDS truck. There's a Thread called "muffler" I beleive it's a sticky in the 3rd gen section,there's alot of good info in there about exhaust options.
