You can always make yourself a spanner wrench to get the fan off. Here is the one I made when I did the e-fan conversion. A couple pieces of metal, a few bolts and you have a wrench perfect for pulling the stock fan off.

Is the viper fan a direct replacement using factory wiring? Does it matter what year of taurus you use? What kinda performance gain could you expect to see? (Sorry if all these questions make me a "hijacker")

Viper fan does not connect to factory wiring. There is no factory wiring for electric fans on our trucks.
