Default 2003 dodge ram 1500 slt 5.7 vs 2006 rsx with mods...

alright i have a 2003 dodge ram quad cab 20 inch rims , with a CAI. Wondering what am going to need to beat this car. Friend just got out of the army, been modding his car for sometime. Am sure he has 270 horses. Car only weighs in at 2,734 pounds. So it's super light compared to our huge 6000 pound trucks. Was wondering what it's going to take? Besides a rocket strapped to the back. Let me know and thanks in advance.

If he has 270 horse you'll need about a thousand to even keep up (this is a wild guess btw don't hold me to it but I doubt your gonna beat him without a huge budget), either that or pray his engine has a major failure when you race.

Supercharger, LSD, gears, torque converter, exhaust and strip as much wieght as possible and then maybe you can get him on a striaght line. Our trucks are great machines, but not nimble high powered sedans.
Good luck...

You'll need to trade in your truck and get a comparable car. Probably don't want to hear that but, this is why fat kids don't race skinny kids. Gravity is a b!tch.

Our trucks are designed to be big, heavy, torque monsters; not race cars. Like others have said, not the answer you were looking for, but if he is pulling anywhere near what he claims, you don't stand a chance without big modifications/upgrades. The Hemi is a great engine, but you're still driving a 3 ton (ish) truck compared to a car that weighs in at well under half of that, has better aerodynamics, and is designed for mild racing.

You can either tell him give me a 5 second head start maybe you will take him. But other than that you will need a good 3 grand to mod up to that. Try going down the road and pick on another half ton truck. Like an older ford or Chevy. Thats for in your range.

haha no there will be others in here soon telling you to run nitrous, get a blower, spend 15 grand in your engine so you can beat a stock car lol. But, to each his own I guess. Your truck can still be a pretty nice speed demon and will out perform a lot out there, I just think it's more appropriate to race similarly modded trucks and vehicles with the same power to weight ratio.
