Hello. I am putting a new motor in my 02 Ram and would like to know what cam I can put in it with the stock cpu. I don't want anything too rough, but would like a little HP and hopefully a little better gas mileage too. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If your determined to use the 5.9 bore that thing out to 408 and you'll never need another performance mod, unless your like me. Otherwise I say screw the 5.9 drop a Hemi in there, you can get a motor trans and pcm for under 3-4 grand.

 

I don't want to have to change my pcm. Want to know what I can do within those limits with the motor, beings I have to replace it. By the way, how will the pcm work if I go with the 408 and how much trouble do people have with overheating with the big bore?

 

I'm pretty sure the pcm needs to be completely recalibrated. I don't know much about the bigger 408 and overheating but I wouldn't think there would be too much of a problem since there is a kit for it last I knew. You also have to figure in with a 408 your tranny will prolly need some serious upgrades.
