Default Cup holder rattle? (2007)

The fold-down cup-holders on my 2007 have started to rattle. If I fold it up, there is no rattle. If it's down, it rattles when I hit a bump. It doesn't seem to matter if there's anything in it or not (such as my phone versus a 32oz drink). If I push down on it, it still rattles, but not as badly.

Any thoughts? It is quite annoying. Generally, I use the cup holders to hold my cell phone (so I can still see it, versus putting it in one of the "cubbies").

Might be that back plastic plate that encloses the void when opened?? Mine seems to be unconnected when i open the holder having me to pop it back into place which is becoming annoying

I'm not sure which plate you're talking about off-hand. I'm going to have to go up and look at it.

Also, I have removed the ash tray to see if it was contributing to the noise, but it is not.

When you open the cupholder there is a plastic plate that opens with it its connected right behind where the cups sit and connects on an angle up under the dash. Its plastic and the same color as your dash. Mine keeps falling out and makes a rattling noise.. Might be the same for you.

Could be a quarter or something stuck behind the tray that only rattles when it is open. Took my ash try out right after I got the truck and found 1.50 in quarters.

It's prob plastic on plastic noise from it vibrating up/down ever so slightly due to terrain or tire balance??? If you put pressure down or slightly lift it up does it go away?

I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

If I push down on it (with a lot of pressure), it goes away, mostly, but not completely. I haven't really tried lifting it up.
