Default Help - Bang when driving

i have a 2007 hemi quad cab 4x4 Auto trans. I live on Long Island NY and yesterday to turned the corner by my house and there was snow on the road and in 2wd my tires spun and a loud Bang. i continued home and backed in to my drive way and Bang again. I drove to work this morning and it is doing it. it does it from a start at a light and driving in top gear. So not only when it shifts. it happens on turns too. Help Please. Do i bring it to the dealer or does anyone know a good place on Long Island to trust? Help Help Help

Could it be a frozen spring popping? (long shot) Maybe a ball joint? If it was a CV joint I would think there would be a vibration, same with U-joint. Dealership ($$) would be a good place to have it look at if you don't have a local shop you trust. Very hard to tell without looking at it.

When the tires spun did you suddenly gain traction? If you had the tires spinnin pretty good and hit dry/unslick ground you could have effed up your u-joint or something.

yes it gained traction - the patch of snow was small but the tires spun pretty good.

Try to isolate where the popping is coming from, front or rear?

Check out your u joints first, then I would be tempted to start looking at your diff.

Going from slick to unslick like that puts a huge amount of stress on your tranny, u joints, cv's, and diff's. It could be any one if not a couple of those things causing your issue.
