Default Need answers before i break something

Alright so i got under the truck to crank the T-bars and was suprised to see that they didnt stick out more that 1/4inch from the back of the key. i tried to crank the bolt up and it wouldnt budge at all. no i am wondering if the bars might already be cranked. However the truck looks like it still has the factory rake to it. Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks yall.

Do you mean the bolt just wont turn as in it's seized??? A lot of the time you have to soak those suckers in penetration oil to get them loose. also did you lift the front off the truck off the ground?? That will help a lot.

IMO, I cranked my TB on my 02 Dakota so I could put 33's on and man oh man what a **** poor ride. Looks good but ride quality really suffers. Your front end suspension will be stiff as hell. Also front end parts took a beating somethin awful. A lot of controversy about TB lifts and how they wont hurt B joints and CV's but take it from me, they do. And to add, they are a bugger to align properly so your camber will be slightly off. If you do crank them, make sure you only go about an inch, inch and a half from stock height and make sure there is enough travel so you aren't bottoming on the bumpstop. Good luck and happy cranking!

I've seen guys on here run 'em up 2" with no problems. May just also be a little different than the dak's. You should have the front end jacked up. You go much higher than 2" it'll ride like a stage coach from what I hear. Maybe some of the 4by guys will chime in with a little more insight.

I have the aftermarket keys, and I went up just slightly over 2, like 2 1/8 inches, and I am very happy with mine, of course I had to get new shocks for mine for it to ride well, but I am very pleased, and the cv's are not nearly as bad as I was thinking they were going to be, these dodges are meant to ride a little bit higher in the front than they give us factory.

Did you raise the front of the truck up to get the weight off the torsion bars, cause they ain't gonna budge if you don't.

I read on another forum a while back where a guy broke a big a$$ breaker bar AND a finger trying to do it with the front tires on the ground...

I was told that it would be alot easier to leave the truck on the ground so i dont have to keep lowering it to check the height. but ill lift it up and see what happens. also what about how litttle it extends pass the key? is it supposed to be just about 1/4inch?

If you lift it you're taking the pressure off the suspension. I may be wrong, but I thought 1/4 turn on the bolts equals 1" on the suspension. just bumping you up brother.

We did this to my truck today and your gonna notice a stiffer ride for sure. I have after market keys so I hope it doesn't hurt my front end to awful bad. I recommend getting a new alignment afterwards also. I'm gonna get mine re-done once my rims/tires come in. I was told once your done, expect the bar to settle some in the following weeks....but its a cheap way to level out.
