I am hoping I can get it done by a regular shop because our Dodge dealership here is very crooked. So many many thanks guys.

Good luck Susan. Also most all the dealerships are crooked. That's why on here we call 'em stealerships.
nevermind im all blind and what not. so i posted on it but how do i get in the club? do i have to pass some weird test or even worse, drive my wifes chevy to prove i want in?
My 2006 had to have the catalytic convertor replaced. It only had around 34000. The dealer said the truck had a 80000 mile factory emissions warranty. Have you checked into that? Or do you have more than 80000 miles?
Replacing a catalytic converter is not a costly repair. Any neighborhood Midas or Meineke can sell you one for under a hundred bucks and cut/weld it in well under an hour.
Dealers will charge you about $600 for the same thing...
