Default Check engine light & new battery

Well, I went out to start the truck at 5pm to head home, and it started very slowly, I heard a clicking from the dash, and then the CEL came on.

The truck drove fine, but I went straight over to Autozone to get it checked while the light was still on. They scanned it and it was "system voltage low". Obviously it had to do with the battery or alternator. I had never seen that message (nor had the autozone guy). We tested the battery and it failed, and in fact, it wouldn't start in their parking lot.

So $100 later I have a new gold top duralast battery w/ 1000 cca's....

At least I didn't get stuck anywhere!

No kidding, at least the last ride you took on that battery was to an Autozone, worked out good for ya...

On a side note, I've been looking for a member with the HBS level kit, and you happen to be one OP. How do you like it? Would you recommend it to someone, ie me? Im gonna order it here soon, hopefully, but Id like a little more feedback on it. I was looking at the 2in kit, but any info on the 2.5in, and/or quality of the HBS kit would be AWESOME! Preciate it bud...

4.7Ram5.7Rango - yes, I have the 2.5" HBS spacer. I purchased it used from another member on here. You couldn't really tell they were used. They were very solid. I have no complaints from a quality standpoint, and it worked as advertised.

If I was going to do it again, I probably would have just used the Bilstein or Rancho lift shocks. These were not out when I bought the spacers.

If I was going to do the spacer again, I probably would have gone with the 2" lift. It just seems like people have more issues with the 2.5".

I have a vibration when 4wd is on between 15-30 MPH. Above that it's fine. I didn't use the 4x4 before putting in the spacer, so I don't 100% know it's from the spacer or not, but it seems to be a common complaint.

On the other hand, I'm thrilled with how it looks, and I get quite a few comments on it.

Well, the battery actually ran out of juice 3 weeks ago when I was working on the MDS light mod. I left the hood open for 3 days, and that stupid under-hood light was on and drained the battery. I took it to AZ, they re-charged and tested and said it was good. I haven't had any issue with it for 3 weeks until last night. Then it crapped out. So I don't know if it was already on it's way out and the earlier discharge pushed it over the edge, or if the battery draining incident killed it.

At least the new battery has a handle on it!! The OEM battery is a real pain to get out.
