I've also heard different trucks take it different ways (feel free to insert dirty joke here). Some will accept it, others wont (like an organ transplant...never know if it'll reject for no reason at all). Thats the only reason I bring up the idle issue.

maybe it is overemphasized, but to be honest i'd rather spend my money on a slightly less aggressive cam, than drop $500 and a crap ton of time into an install of a cam that wont actually work. I want to be sure it'll work the very first time. I have a second vehicle, but I still consider the truck a daily driver and really dont want it out of commission

Man.........LET ME TELL YOU...........had I honestly known what all was involved with a cam like mine IDK if I would have done it. I mean i like it, done get me wrong. But when you add the cost of the cam, oil, coolant, tuner, custom tuning, wideband, springs and rods, tools to change springs and pull damper, it adds up to be A LOT...

IMO (and prices can vary)

cam - 400
springs, rods, cam/crank bolt - 100
oil - 65
coolant - 20
ATF+4 (PS fluid) - 10
tool to change springs - 75
Wideband - 150 to 300
tuner and tunes - 375-500
gauge pod for wideband - 30
labor costs ???

Now if you do it right and do some good shopping and catch good deals you get do it for far less obviously.

ive got about 850 +/- in mine

My cam was worth every cent. But you have to be into performance. Performance doesn't only mean racing at a track. I like that my big ol' lifted truck still out accelerates stock trucks. It makes me grin every time I do it.

If you're just doing it to have a cool mod, than it's not worth it.
