So today i found out i have to drive across the state to help out family....
I have been needing to change my oil and just didn't have time to do it myself like i always do today so i took it to one of my local oil change places "Oil Can Henerys". for a quick one change before i get on the road...Anyways to make a long story short i leave get out on the highway and about 10.miles down i look at my gauges an notice my temp is really close to full hot! so i start to pull of the highway and notice smoke start billowing out my hood thought my engine was on fire! haha oh no the dumb s*** forgot to put my radiator cap back on witch was no where to be found and i was completely out of coolant! So i call them and let them know what happend and they say this..... well just bring it back in and we will and fill u back up! and give u a free oil change.... this is about the time i was about to explode so i say drive back with no coolant and no cap u dumb shi*!!! so he says well can u get a cap and drive it back and we will reimburse you! so i get his name and hang up and called there main corp and tell them the story and now am getting all my money back including the cap a coolant i had to get just to get off the road! and they said they will contact me tomorrow to let me know what they will compensate me for my troubles! what would you guys tell them you want in return if this happened to you! sorry for the long post just furious i am!

Damn buddy, that really sucks. Humans make mistakes, but his response shows how stupid they just might be up there. And, to top it off, free oil changes? Why in the hell would you ever take it back there after this? Lol. I don't know how to handle it partner. I used to be a pretty hot-headed dude, I woulda been acting a fool 4-5 years ago. But now, I might just take the re-imbursements and leave with the usual "everyone I know will hear about this place" routine. Unless it was a cash offer, or maybe a case or 2 of oil, I wouldnt bother with any other offerings of their services. Just my .02

I would ask for a yrs worth of oil changes, and make sure you check things before you leave there!!

They will be on their toes with your vehicle from now on!!

I hate people messing with my truck, tell them you want the engine tore down and inspected for damage by the local dealer and then see what they have to offer.

Why do these idiots at quick lube places always mess w/ stuff that you didn't ask them to? You took it for an oil change so why did the take the radiator cap off? I know they have stupid little checklist they're supposed to do but maybe they need to add put the cap back on to that list so they don't screw up anyone's vehicle. This is one reason why I know my dad has always been right to go in the shop and watch the guys perform the work b/c if you were there it never would have happened. There isn't really a way to tell how much damage was done, how close to the red was it? You might get a little something from them, but it will likely be less than what you deserve.

it was pretty close to red i have been thinking about wanting to take it some where to get inspected but it will just turn into a big hassle when it would come to have them try and pay for it imo and yes i wasn't that heated till the guy said drive it back its common knowledge you cant drive it like that especially working as a manager ant a oil change company.... i be sure to let you guys know what they end up doing for me but i can say i will never be going back!

Tell the guy you want someone to go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure no internal damage was done. Last thing you want to do is to be reimbersed and sent off just to find out you have a few grand in damages because of their f*ck up, you'll be SOL then.
