There are a lot of idiots in the world.

When I lived in Phoenix, I had a coworker which had a truck (Tundra) that was stolen out of his driveway. His wife's car was broken into as well. They did find the truck out in the desert. It was destroyed. Rear axle was bent, suspension tore up, all 4 tires were flat, half of the interior was gone, traces of drugs in the cab, the remaining parts of the interior were written on with sharpie marker. The exterior had huge dents all over it. The only thing removed from it was the factory headunit??

Thieves aren't always motivated by money.

However, I do agree with the statements here that OP will be the first on the list in a car fire like that.
