Default Changed shocks......now noise over bumps

Changed what I assume to be the original shocks on my 02 1500 last night. The shocks that came off had lost their charge and was real easy to compress. The passenger front piston wouldnt come back out after being compressed.

I replaced them with Napa Response shocks, which I understand is the same as Monroe Matic Plus. The difference in ride and control is night and day. Feels like I am driving on toilet paper LOL. The problem I have now is that when I take a bump at low speed, I hear a clunk type noise coming from drivers rear. The best way to describe it would be similar to the spare tire being loose, but mine is tight. It does not make this noise at speeds above 35 or so. I climbed back under there to check everything out and all the bolts were still tight. Any ideas on what could cause this all of a sudden? All I did was undo the two bolts, replace the shock and replace the bolts. If I bounce truck by hand I can faintly hear a noise like it but that sounds like it is coming from bumper.

Thanks for any help or ideas. I did a search but the only thing I could come up with a similar problem is someone who installed a leveling kit and noise was from the front. Thanks.

If you torqued the shocks adequetly It would not be there rubber grommets next check the upper housing for cracks what happened is you put stress on a part somewhere that hasn't had it in awhile i'm thinking metal fatigue somewhere. if not a bum shock thats a possibility too' Hope it helps

are the new shocks the same length as OEM? if they are shorter it could be them topping out.

They are the same length. I am thinking bum shock but never knew one to make noise while going out.

I just crawled under there and had someone jump on the bumper. It appears that the shock will bounce a few times, than get firm and that is when the noise appears. Will end up changing shock most likely.
