Default Where to connect blue wire off of 7-way adaptor for trailer brake?

Hello

I have an 05 Ram 1500.

I have installed a Prodigy brake controler and a 4 way to 7 way adaptor.

The 7 way adaptor connects with my current 4 way adaptor plus has the additional 4 wires:

- White - This gets grounded to the truck.
- Black - This gets connected to the + terminal of the battery
- Yellow - This is optional for reverse lights.
- Blue - Powers the brakes on the trailer.

I have grounded the white wire, connected the black to my + terminal of the battery. I am not using reverse lights on the trailer.

Now......

Where/what do I connect the blue wire from the adaptor to?

ANSWER:
Well I finally hooked up the brake controller and spliced the blue wire coming off the 7 way adaptor into the blue wire of the brake controller.

damn, must not have gotten the tow package from the factory huh? that sucks. but check with prodigy for the instructions. there are two sets it should come with. one for factory tow package (plug in controller under dash) and the other set for installation without tow package. in there, it will tell you which wire under the dash is for brakes. good luck, and sorry i couldnt have been more help

I looked at my brake controller and the blue wire connects to the blue wire from the controller. I have a spare harness and it show a blue wire also going to the controller. The blue wire is specified as "trailer brakes" on the schematic so that must actually power the brakes from the controller. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

Just to clarify.

The blue wire coming from the 7-way adapter is connected to the blue wire coming out of your brake controller?

Correct, the blue wire from the harness connects to the blue wire at the controller. Did you buy the OEM 7 pin harness from Dodge?

I had to put on the OEM harness and hitch after I bought the truck (used). It's stupid, but it came with tow mirrors (which I hate) and no hitch or 7 pin harness. It was easy to install. Would have been easier if I wasn't to fat to get under the truck to run the wires. That's what kids are for. LOL Hook up the Blue wire and let me know if it works. Have a good day.
