Engine enamel would do just fine.. I would think regular paint would work to but Im not 100% and I dont want it to **** up on ya.. Since you are in there anyways instead of painting that fugly cover we have, why not buy a nice new cover? you can get decent ones for like 60$.. or go mag hytec and get double the capacity and way better cooling..

Unemployment prevents me from doing things like that otherwise I would, besides I gotta pay off the truck and start savin for the Sammy I want thanks to your thread. I found a coil over 4 link system that gives 40"s of suspension travel before more than one wheel leaves the ground!

http://www.rocky-road.com/truth.html it's at the bottom

Yah Id save for a sammy over a diff cover. 40" of travel is nice but a build like that is more of a rock buggy and very expensive.. If I were you just get a 4 inch kit and some bigger tires and go wheel. when you start going with 4link coilover kits you need to make custom mounts for the suspension, all your 4link mounts on the frame and axle, the proper geometry, right pinion angles, custon drive shafts.. Probably bigger axles since you are gonna be under there going all out anyways and the stock ones wont support very big tires.. your probably looking at a 10,000$ build not including the price of the truck or tires. The only time you will see someting like that is a competition truck.

I don't really think they are considered friends anymore, plus the only thing they could do to my future (hopefully) sammy is stab the tires. If I get one I will paint the whole thing in bedliner, I don't care how it looks I care how it performs. If I find my truck covered in something again today chit is gonna hit the fan, the kid who did it may be bigger but I have wrestled him to the ground before. But back on topic i don't want this thread to be 15 pages.

Hell, if you read the chart you can achieve 24"s of travel with stocker leafs and a SPOA kit!

you prob have water in the differential from all that mudding earlier in the year....drive it a little bit and pull the plug, see if its milky

Forget the samauri, just go buy an old 4wd single cab yota. Ive had really good luck out of mine, and parts are easy to get. Mine is a SFA though, i dont know about the 90s IFS ones

After I get her shined up for her photo shoot I'm just gonna pull the diff cover and check everything out, I thought about getting some gear paint and seeing what kind of pattern I'm getting between the ring and pinion. Plus I would go with single cab 'Yota but I (if I do get the money saved) want to build an exo cage for the sammy I want. That way even if I get stupid and roll it, I won't have too much damage to worry about.

Well, got under there and checked everything out. That oil was a mixture of gray black and god only knows what, it had bubbles in it as it ran out and it was extremely black. Heres some pics of the ring gear and carrier, I couldn't see any unusual wear on anything. I looked at the spider gears and every tooth of the ring gear. I also painted up the cover to prevent rust and make it look a little better.

Looks good. What did you use to seal it up?
