Hit the spindle where the upper ball joint goes in with a hammer. You may have to wack quite a few times. It also helps to lower the jack a little then raise it back up to help loosen the ball joint.

Well, put the Pitman puller on it so there's lots of pressure. Then hit it with a large hammer/sledge. Maybe that'll work for ya.

Mine worked with a BFH really hard on that little outcrop beside where the balljoint goes in. It will dent a little bit hitting it. In the top left hand corner of the pic, you can see where I beat the hell out of it on the spindle

Sounds like you might damage everything else though... I used a my air chisel with a pickle fork attachment with it, worked like a charm with no damage to ball joint

You won't really damage anything on there. His spindle shouldn't be aluminum like Matt's, it should be cast. No problems. I've seen pickle forks tear up ball joints before too though. Not saying by any means it doesn't work well.

IMO, you should pull the tire, then the caliper, rotor and then the wheel hub, then the tie rod and sway bar link (sway bar link on both sides) and then the lower BJ and THEN the upper.

go up to the faqs section and read my DIY on replacing the upper A arm. if you follow that, the bj should come right off.

i dont like pickle forks, ive ruined ball joints with them before, as well as seen others do the same. to each his own i guess.
