Default Airaid Intake System for the 4.7L

Hey guys, I have an opportunity of purchasing a lightly used Airaid Intake System for my 4.7L.

Do you guys think it's worth $100.00 investment?

I recently converted over to synthetic oil and put in a new filter and I still avg in town about 15mpg.

I was reading that this intake would help give better idol control. For example: when going up a hill, my avg rpm was 3000 and with the intake it would drop to maybe 2000 @ the same speed and hill with the Airaid.

Love to hear what you folks think, and this is for the 4.7L.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure you won't see that kinda RPM change with just a CAI. They have ones that are way less expensive brand new. Check this out:

Also, we have a 287 club for the 4.7 motors where we discuss this sort of stuff in the club section if you'd like to check that out too.

If thats the one I think it is that Jon posted, it seems to be well worth $70. Im not 100% sure on the airrade, but I believe its plastic, and the one Jon posted is metal. Lotta folks say the plastic is better, but for a $30 savings, Id go with the metal. Plus, its a one-piece design, less hiccups along the way to constrict the airflow....

Cmon to the club section and join us, lottsa nice 4-7 rides in there, of several different models...

an intake is never going to change your rpms, the only things that will are tire size and gearing.

I have an airraid intake and it tends to hold the rpm the same. It actually tends to hold the truck in like secound or third giving you more rpm up the hill! And the sound you hear is pretty cool, sounds like you have an exhaust and your mileage with go up like one or two mpg!
