07 08 ram lift
Hello everyone im in the market for a new truck, gettin rid of the gm. Im looking at a 2007 ram 2500 slt 4x4 gas. Nice truck but if i wanted 35 inch tires would i need a lift? i see leveling kits 2 inch but its only for the front and this truck seems to already be level. Do i need anything to fit these tires. Im looking at toyo open country in 315's. Im also looking at an 08 ram 1500 quad cab. Also wondering about this truck im sure i would need a lift for this one but how high? What does everyone think would be the better buy 2007 ram 2500 slt quad cab 4x4 really good shape interior is like new only 19000 km for $27000, or an 08 ram 1500 slt 4x4 quad cab in good shape has around 50 000 km and he wants $ 22000. thanks for any input.
Personally, I made the mistake and got gas with dodge. If you want a dodge personally I would go for diesel, if your going to spend $22,000-$27,000 you can get a dodge 03-07 about for the same prices with low miles. Much easier to lift, way easier to fit bigger tires under, less wear or stress on the truck, oh yea and your MPG wont go down like GAS does and you wont have to change gears. You will lose maybe 1-2 mpg when you already get 21-23 mpg on diesel. And Gas is terrible with mpg when lifted. If you get new gears it will cost a bit but it will only make your mpg go up so much and your diesel will have even better mpg with new gears also. Lifted, diesels get twice the MPG.
Just my opinion.
As in lifts, Fabtech 6" Suspension lift for Gas.
If diesel(And if your willing to spend that kind of money you better get one!!) You can easily get a 6" lift for half the price as you would with gas.
Consider what I said!! It would be worth it.

Yea im pretty much sold on gas, only because i live in a small isolated place with almost no diesel mechanics. We have no dodge dealership either. I have buddys with diesels and have to drive 8 hours on dirt road to get to the nearest dodge dealership . would most people go for a 07 2500 slt quad with only 19000 km for $27000 or an 08 1500 with at least twice the km for around $22000. Both are 5.7 hemi.
I bought my second ram (1st was an 06 RC SB w/HEMI) I bought an 05 WRX when gas was $4gal in MASS and my lease was up. On July 3rd the WRX was crushed by a tree in my driveway and totalled. The funny thing was a week before I told my wife I hoped someone would steal it so I could by another RAM. I guess someone was listening. My point is you will be happy with a HEMI the mileage isn't the best but the thing hauls a** for a truck. I have never drove a 2500 but have heard good things. If you add some aftermarket parts and exhaust the mileage will go up slightly. I paid $19,000 for a 07 Quadcab Short bed SLT Bighorn. It was loaded with chrome 20" wheels and the sport interior. It had 40,000miles on it but was in great condition. At the time RAM were about $24,000 for similar trucks. Just try to talk them down a bit more. Good Luck and make sure you buy what you want not what the dealer wants to give you it is the only way you will be truly happy.
Gas<Diesel, if you plan on driving highway, using alot of miles etc, mostly everything diesel would be better unless you in a very outdated and rural area.
Sure the 5.7 hemi has *****, I have it, I got 8 1/2" on 38's, but I would of rather of had the diesel because I would have twice the mileage with any lift.
Diesels last longer, only thing that is the same as gas if it is automatic is the transmission.
Not to mention less suspension stress etc. You have a straight front axle on your diesel rather than a ****ty Independent Front Suspension on Gas like I have.
If you plan on lifting get a diesel. Easier, cheaper, less stress on the truck, way more MPG.
