05 ram 1500 timing

Default 05 ram 1500 timing

i was told that from the factory my engine timing is retarded and i was wondering how much i can advance it and if so how much of a gain would i notice?

to advance or retard you would have to break the front of the engine down and change the position of the cam in ratio to the crank. There is no distributor you can turn to do it like older engines.

Who in the factory told you this?

Hes wrong unless it was his truck previously and he did a cam change and didnt put the timing chain back on wrong.

That was a 1970's thing when they were trying to lower emissions. They retarded the cam timing 4 degrees.
You can advance the ignition timing and such with a good tuner like the Diablosport Predator. You will gain around 20hp. I love mine.

yea i have a DSP too and i was wondering about that.. been wanting to ask about messing with the timing and stuff.. how do you adjust it on the programmer? is it in the spark and fuel part? and how do you change it so you know its at it peak power?
