Do you guys know if I can add an aftermarket deck to a 2008 Ram with factory radio(Sirius, no premium) sound system? The kid at Bestbuy is saying I have to add a PAC module to get it working properly.

 

yea, and you need the PAC to make it work with the way it does from the factory (without the key in, shut off with the door opening, etc) but it will work without that too. I have it on mine though

 

So if I understand correctly, if I don't install a PAC the stereo will shut off when I turn the key off, not when I open the door??

Are ther other functions affected too?

 

I dont know the exact, because I installed it the first time i put a radio in here. I figure itd be like an older truck, you know the weird things our radio does with opening the door, staying on a minute, etc.

The pac isnt horribly needed but it keeps the truck more like factory
