Default 03' 2500 5.7L coverter ?

Hello everyone new to the forum and have a simple question i hope. How many Catalytic converters are on a stock 2003 2500 with the 5.7l hemi? I just bought the truck two weeks ago and it has thrown the p0420 code, the only after market i can see is a muffler (flowmaster/magnaflow?) with dual exit. The upstream and downstream O2 sensors are near the passenger side doors on either side of what i presume to be the Single Cat... There is a small leak where the new pipe and Cat? meet after the sensor.

bought it with 61k and 3rd owner. in an attempt to get the dealership to rectify the issue or use the 80k mile/8year warranty any help is appreciated

Can't say for 2500, but for 03 1500 model, it is a single cat if built in 02. Dual cats if built in 03.

i'll have to see when the build date was but i do know it was a mexico plant that it came from. Im hoping the cat(s) weren't messed with so this can be an easy fix under warranty and have read somethings from Chrysler Techs that say A/M muffler doesnt void any warranty. I'll snap some Pics in the morning..

as a side note i checked for any MIL eliminators or plugs for a second cat and found nothing at all so thats good news.

little Update. dropped off to the Dealer on 3/9 for a 3/10 appointment and got a New Cat, PCM Flash and Diag covered under the 8yr /80K warranty. Also had to replace both O2 Sensors and waiting on one to come in on monday. Got them to top off the coolant and change the oil so hopefully all will be good.

yes i do have only one cat. everything but the cat back muffler was stock. Straight from the headers to the Y then a o2 sensor, Converter and the 2nd o2 sensor. Apparently the 02' for 03' year was dead on, everything i could find picture wise showed the two cats after the headers

Last update on this thread (P0420). Picked up the Truck yesterday, paid $295 for two o2 sensors, oil change, labor and i think a CPS. The Cat was replaced, PCM Flashed and they put all new pipe in from the headers to the muffler. i Did have to go there and cut the brackets on my exhaust since the nuts where tac welded on (the dual tip hangers). The original cost was going to be around $2k to have this all done so get it done under warranty! drove about 30 miles + last night and no CEL so far will report back if there is.

Stop procrastinating and get it done!
