You mght want to have it checked by a shop and get some more input. I doubt if it is the rack.

if you cant check the front end with it jacked on these trucks you shouldnt be touching it let a shop do it. Its not hard to find play on these trucks if its there. just be gentle when your moving the tire, if your steering components are moving your not doing it gentle enough.

It probably helps to tell you all that my torsions are cranked. but I have experience, I just got done putting a 4" suspension lift on my bro's 1987 toyota pickup 4x4. It's just the weight of the wheels and tires are making it extremely hard to find anything loose. I am too lazy to pull them off but I'll get to it tomorrow. I also have an idea of pulling the sway bar completely off to check if it is that.
