if you want a v6 just get a Dakota, but for v8's theres the 4.7l magnum and the 5.7l hemi
4.7 about 14-16 mpg city 17-19 mpg highway 5.7 is about 10-13 city 15-17 highway

I have the 5.7 Hemi and my truck is bone stock. Mileage is close to the first post, 14/16 city and 16/18 highway. Stay away from that V6, mileage isn't all that much better and with a Hemi you've got the ballz to do just about anything a truck can do! My old Dakota was a V6 and it was a hog on fuel, 15 city and 18 highway if I drove conservatively. And slow as **** especially on any small hills. You will be very impressed with a Hemi even over the 4.7 V8 IMO. My 2 cents

I would have to say the v6 will get the same amount of MPG's as the v8 because it takes alot more power for the v6 to move that heavy of a truck compared to little power of the v8's.
I would say the ONLY benefit from a v6 is strictly upfront cost. You'll still be able to tow a small trailer, but you won't get near the pulling power or any better gas mileage than if you stepped up to a v8.

dollar for dollar over the full ownership period, v8 spanks the v6 in a fullsize truck.

Now, if you were getting a regular cab 2wd, then a v6 might not be so bad, but a full size truck like a quadcab with 4wd, you really need a v8 to get anywhere and to hold any kind of resale value.

You will regrete it if you buy a V6 QC take it from me. No better mileage than a 4.7 and a lot less power. HEAVY TRUCK itttty bittttyy motor.

I had an old 1989 Dakota with the 3.9L in it. I would get anywhere from 11-17 mpg. typical fill up would be about 12mpg.

I have a v6 qc and consistently get between 15.5 and16.5 around town and 19-21 hwy. There is not much difference in power between the v6 and 4.7v8 before 2008. After that the 4.7 was boosted to over 310 Hp. If you go with the v6 definately go with a manual tranny

Comparing a v6 to a v8 is like comparing apples and oranges, their just not the same. There is a huge difference in power, especially torque. Also I have no idea how a Quad cab that is as heavy as a semi gets that kind of mileage with a V6 even if it is a two wheel drive. I am not calling you a liar or dissing you but man I would love to know your secret! You must drive some flat roads with the wind at your back both ways and about 30 mph to achieve those numbers. Cudos!!
