Default Rear Shackle Question>>>

Should the rear leaf spring shackle on my truck point down (90 deg angle to the ground) or at a 90 degree angle to the end part of the leaf spring?

I think mine may have moved because one side doesnt seem to match the other for some reason.

Also, should the pivot bolts (ones connected to the spring) be tightened or left a little loose for some movement? thanks

I'll pitch in, my shorty shackle hang down from the spring hanger and attached to the spring at a slight angle. The spring eye is a little toward the rear past what would be perpendicalar to the hanger hole. I always felt that the spring was slightly bunched up because of the really short travel of the shackle. Mine are tight, but they can still move as necessary. If you are binding, try loosening them a little to see if it helps. Good luck...

so, the bolts that hold the shackle to the frame are supposed to be torqued, but the pivot bolts that hold the spring to the shackle are supposed to be snug but able to move, correct?
