Default Newish to this Great forum... NEED 3rd Gen HELP !!

Hello all...

Heres my Story ( and im sticking to it...)

I bought a 2002 Ram 1500 Quad Cab in 2008. it had 47,000 miles on it and a blown up motor.
( the valve seat came out of the head and Lodged sideways and broke in 1/2 and ate the piston and the rocker took out the cam) Have great pic's!

I put in a 2nd 2002 4.7 ( Crap ) V8 with 30,000 miles on it. Took me a year to find a low mileage motor. I bought it complete with even the wiring harness. Installed it and Got the Truck up and Running but found out that a 2002 California Model Has 2 more O2 sensors than a Regular Mdl !

i take Great care of my Truck, setrab oil cooler , aftermarket oil filter setup, gauges to watch everything including 2 oil pressure warning lights in different locations and 2 water temp warning lights in different locations.

@ 67,042 miles the truck split a Radiator ( started dripping ) and when I replaced it and pressure tested it, I found Compression in the cooling system. The truck never overheated, never got over 210 deg in the Cyl head area but the ( Dealer ) said it was over heated and that's why the Head cracked. ??? HOW ?? Ive put 36,000 more miles on it with the Radiator cap on but not tight and No Issues at all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now issue #2 This is where I need HELP WITH !!!!!!!!!!

The Rear End In My truck busted sat. THE Pinion NUT came off and the Pinion Fell back inside the case and you can Imagine the Mess !!

I need a new Rear End and a Drive shaft for my 2002 2wd Quad cab.

Who Here can Help me with A Rear End SWAP ??

By SWAP I mean Putting a different Rear end in the truck than Factory. Something that will hold up and not give any issues. This is the 2nd factory 2002 rear end that has gone out in this truck in 40,000 miles.

The Gear Ratio I have is a 3.55 . I have Disc Rear and The VSS in the Housing.

Im wondering if I can Put in Anything Else that Will have the Same Bolt pattern on the ends of the Axle tubes to bolt on my Factory Disc Brake setup.

The Rear Axle in a 1999 - 1500 2wd looks the same but has drums, Can I swap over the Disc's I have to it ? Are the Axles the same ?

Im Really In a Bind And Need this Truck up and Going in a week or so and Refuse to Pay The Going Rate of $900 + for a used 2002 stock rear end again. I called 27 Yards In GA Mon and the cheapest I found Was $950.00 with Exchange.....

I have even Contemplated Putting in a 2500 Rear end and Buying new wheels ( 5 lug front and 8 lug rear )

I have found a 3.55 rear from a 1999 with VSS in the top for $200 with a 90 day warranty but I have no clue if the brakes will swap...

SOMEONE Help ME With These Questions Please....

my Email to my Blackberry is Miscmechanic@aol.com
My Cell # is 404 - 374 -5498 ( 8 am till 11 pm EST - Georgia )

Any help would be appreciated...

I also have the complete bombed 2002 4.7 V8 from my truck if someone needs parts. just messed up the driver side head and the piston. not the crank , block and every other part on the Motor.

Thanks again for your time..

Issue #1 - There are lots of guys who come in here with 4.7s and most of them are overheating issues that are from cracked heads or bad head gaskets. Sorry, but no surprise you have the same issue either. But again, its always 4.7 related.

Issue #2 -What kind of rear end are you talking about putting in? Ive know some Dodge Ram guys in north GA that might be able to help. I will PM you some members some time today.

There was someone in the classifieds looking for some 4.7 parts

HELP!!! I need a crank and heads fast

2002 1500 4.7
Radiator reservoir has a leak at the neck, I am planning on getting a new reservoir, What type of fluid do I need to use. I was told that the old type of green anti-freeze was not compatible with these motors, ram 1500 4.7? … Help

They make antifreeze thats compatible with all types. It is still green (or orange in some cases) and work just fine with everything out there. Just check the jug, it should say "compatible with all types" prestone, peak, autozone are just a couple of the brands that i have seen with this claim on the jug.

I had the same thing happen with my 4.7

Sold it and upgraded to a hemi because they are notorious for blowing gaskets

well as much as DODGE Guys hate to hear it, I will have the 1st 6.0L LQ9 GM 6.0 powered Dodge ram By Summers End. Im tired of the Damn 4.7 issue !!!!

i Paid $1900 for a 4.7 with less than 50,000 miles. B.S....... if you ask me..

Bought a 2004 Cadillac Escalade 6.0 2wd Engine and Trans for $1700 with 54,000 miles.

it has 345 hp and 359 ft lbs tq stock.
I bought a painless wiring harness and have the engine wired and ready to Fab up the mounts. With a Plug in Programmer , the motor will tune to an Impressive 380 Hp.

still less than what I have in my 4.7 .........
