You can keep the cost down on a 3G hemi if you REALLY know what you're doing. If you're trying to go with something damn near bulletproof and making big power (I'm hoping you mean torque, as in torque to move big heavy truck) then a 6.1 based stroker will carry you far (which is what the 426 & 440 3G hemis are based on). Just keep in mind the other associative costs that go with the engine you wish to install; beefed tranny to handle power increase, custom tuning for both engine and trans, custom driveshaft (stock 1500 aluminum is like coke can over tissue paper) or SRT10 driveshaft which will flow right into the stronger rear axle you're going to need (SRT10 Dana 60 fills the bill here nicely). Now we have go, let's talk about whoa. You're thinking 720hp...there's a reason the SRT10 came with 15" 4 piston front brakes and 2 piston calipers (basically our front brakes) out back. From doing the brake swap, I can tell you those parts ain't cheap either (unless you got a buddy who just wrecked one). Not to **** in your wheaties at all, just throwing all this out there.

I did a budget build on mine its a 5.7 based engine, 6.1 crankshaft (its forged from the factory) Forged I beam rods and Forged pistons I have about 1200 in the set up I also added ARP head, main and Rod fastners for a additional 400, I plan to run 15 PSI with my Paxton and a small shot of N20 on this truck its a 2wd Rc/SB. Btw It was a cheap and easy way to build power because there was NO maching work to be done to the block everything bolts right in and together. I dont trust the BIG strokers and Boost theres alot of them that FAIL due to weak points from the new angles of the stroker kits.

You have a 03? Tuning is going to be half the fun with that monster.

Sounds good, what model truck are you running? Any PCM issues?

Im a 2004 so SCT was easy for mine, good luck with 03s I know of 2 guys with turbocharged 03s they get by with piggy back SMT-6 and the other uses IMES3 tuning other than that theres not "custom" tuning avaible for you guys.

You might want to put your ideas down for other to see before you waste your time and money, 03s like you have are very difficult to tune since there is NO tuning support, good luck getting a big ol ROUDY cammed stroker to idle, with out proper tuning support you can only do so much with a Split second cam controler and SMT-6 or other piggy backs. The trucks PCMs are a PITA to tune with a big cam tuning is progressing BUT its not quite there yet. Hate to see you waste a ton of time and money on something you will not be happy with in the end
