I found a guy that wants to sell an unlocked superchips 3815 for 200. Is this a good deal? will it do the same things as the 3865 for my 08 hemi ram? I haven't been able to find much information about the difference of the two programmers. thanks in advance

 

I had a superchips 3815 for a while now Im using SCT tuning, Thats a Ok deal not great there are some on ebay for cheaper BUT thats risky of them being locked.

 

I was thinking about offering him 150. how do you like the sct? what made you switch?

 

also can you still recieve updates? Thanks for any help, I want to get all of my facts straight so I don't let this go if it is worth it.

 

I bought my SC 3815 on ebay for like 199 i think? used unlocked ect..
mine works just fine does all i need and more

I say go for it. I love my 3815. Would upgrade but my works just fine. And the gains are noticable. Good luck

 

I wouldnt recommend getting it for a truck newer than an 03. When the trans control comes out, which has been announced as hopefully a spring release soon, you'll really have wished you had gotten the newer version, 3865 flashpaq or 3950 cortex. The 3815 is a good tuner for sure. I highly recommend it to those with a 98-03 ram. I just sold mine and I bought a 3950. They are still releasing database updates but support will soon be disappearing since the 3815 is an outdated tuner. All the good updates will only be for the newer versions.

Oh and I sold my 3815 a couple weeks ago for $225 shipped in a matter of a couple days after listing it.

 

If you are going to get a SC tuner, get the 3865 or 3950. If you get the 3815 you will not get the trans features when they are released. Trust me, you want the trans features. I have been running them for a while and they are real nice.

I like the SCT and went with it because my truck is heavily modded the superchips are good for people who are mildly modded, The trans features will be nice if they ever get released I have been hearing of there release for some time, I still see nothing, the cool thing is you can stack a superchips with a SCT I have a superchips sitting here thats unlocked and ready to go when and IF they ever release trans stuff. You do not need to stack SCT and superchips unless you are heavily modded either. SCT provids tuning for us forced induction guys or if have have a more than mild cam.
