Rack and pinion system (FAIL)
I have a 04 Ram 1500 with a 7" lift and 35" tires. I thought this was the cause of my rack and pinion system on my truck to fail. I was partially wrong. I have read of people with WAY less miles than mine having theirs fail. Which brings me to my questions......Is the system on a 2500 or 3500 built stronger? If so will it fit on my truck? If not any reccomendations as to where I can find one that is stronger and will fit my truck.
Thanks in advance

Mine (on a stock 03) pukes power steering fluid out one side of the rack when I cold-start the engine, it leaves a red spot on my driveway like it's the truck's time-of-the-month.
(But at least it's never cranky).

Welcome to the fabulous world of IFS trucks. You were partially right however, larger diameter tires with greater weight DOES in fact put greater strain on the rack as well as just about all other front end suspension components.
You pretty much are stuck with OE racks, either new or rebuilts...

Thats a nice truck you got there. I live in cove but have never seen you around before. A few of us local guys were thinking about doing a meet and greet. You should come
The SRT-10 Ram rack and pinion is much stronger than a stock 1500's and it will fit, if you can find one.

I wou ld love to go to a dodge meet and greet, show off what I have done and give/get ideas from other trucks out there. That would be alot of fun. Let me know when and where this happens and I'll be there.
i was just in austin on wednesday to pick up my hood lol
