They are by Irvin. You can find them at auto parts stores

I don't trust any of those people. I went too this midas store for years always got a fair price until this year . Granted I talked too him on the phone and maybe he didn't recognise but still I smelled a ripoff and told him see ya!!These shops that are honest are hard too come by. I found one I will give work too if my driveway gets old.

I believe they are called nut extractors. They also have bolt extractors that are used when the head of the bolt breaks off.

It's very possible that if they impacted the drain plug in, they stretched the threads on the plug or the pan and pulled them out. If that's the case, and I SERIOUSLY hope it isn't, you may never get the plug out.

This would really deserve the "Tire through the front store window" treatment.

Good Luck, I hope you get it out OK.

Thanks Gone Fishin, that is one of the very thing I thought of. But I cannot confirm or deny that is what happened one late and rainy night, LOL.

I did got to Advanced Auto and did get the Nut extracters from Irvin. They were 25.99, I just thought hhhmmm, pay $25 to a shop for an oil change with my oil, filter and new nut or give it a try and have a set of 5 Nut extracters to add to my tool collection. Who doesn't want more tools?? easy decision.

Thanks to all on the advice and I'll let you know how they work out later in the week. H-

Exclamation Same deal: frozen oil plug.

Same deal today on my 2002 Neon. I sprayed it with WD-40. Next time I try, I'll get it up off the ground and use vice-grips. Until I can actually see it, I can't be sure I have them on properly. It's real easy to round that bolt off.

You'll probably need to get the drain hole re-threaded after you get the plug out. They severely cross-threaded your drain plug and I doubt it will ever fit snugly after it is removed. You'll have two choices when it comes time to re-install the drain plug: live with it cross-threaded and use lots of washers when you put it back in, or, get hole re-tapped.
BTW, in Virginia you can fail a state inspection for bad wiper blades or insufficient brake pad remaining. I failed for both two years ago and got a red inspection sticker that was only good for two weeks. I fixed the problems myself and they gave me a regular sticker. No cost to re-inspect.

Wow to many shops do this to often.
When i first bought my truck i was going to have everything done professional until someone cross threaded my drain plug......
If you cant get it off OP like Rcman said buy a new plug and take it to another shop with a lift they can do a little more
