You can get the performance heads from inertia for bout $1600 and the already have the 6.1 springs in them too.

If you want to save your $$$... What wieght oil are you using, do you have a programer of any kind on it, and when do you hear it (at idle / while driving)?

thanks guys
as for my noise
its loudest at start up, but it is still pretty loud when hot, and on the gas on a hill or what ever!

as for oil, I use 5w20 amsoil
same as since new, and change it every 5000 miles, plus filter

noise just got real loud at 70,000, about 2500 miles into a oil change!

so, that is why I was wondering if I have a problem
and figured if I had to open it up, may as well up grade some stuff
didn't think heads were so hig( last head job was on a older jeep! and heads were all over for half, and then some of what I have been getting prices on for this hemi!

best package deal i found so far is a set of 6.1 heads, a cam, and all install parts for
$2675.00, and told only a 50hp gain!

as for chips, No I have never used them

I have been looking some, but seem to be so many out there, from cheap to pretty high
not sure what is the real deal and whats marketing!

from past experiences, heads always made HP over stock, as long as they were name brand, and well made!!
thats why I was leaning, plus i figured new heads would get ris of that damn tap tap tapping noise!

thanks again guys!

I have never really looked into the "hemi tick" but I would think it is lifter related. Not the head.

I'm fairly sure that the 6.1 heads need an adapter to make the ports line up right. Also if you are going that rout how do the exhaust ports matchup on the 6.1 heads match up to the 5.7 manifolds? If they dont matchup that means you'll need to add headers to the list too...

From my understanding, the 5.7 intake will bolt up and match the 6.1 heads fine. It is the 6.1 intake to 5.7 heads that need the adapters.

I think the trick is to go with a nicely ported 5.7 head with 6.1 springs. IMHO, doing the 6.1 head conversion would take to much effort.

Alright. that might be what I am thinking of, I know some of the 6.1 stuff ewont merge straight over to the 5.7 stuff just right. What about the exhaust ports though? I am almost possitive that you cant use the 5.7 headers / manifolds with the 6.1 heads but I may be thinking of something else there too...

Truckin. IDK about the exh ports but several of the guys over on HTC are running them so we could always find out. I was actually going to get a set of 6.1 heads to go with my 6.1 intake and at the time there were two sets i was trying to get and both sold out from under me. Now Ive spent the money elsewhere.....LOL

I do know to overcome the higher compression the guys get with 6.1 heads, they double up the head gaskets.

True there are a few running that setup over there. I'll have to do some digging
