Bad alternator
I couldn't take it anymore. The engine whine my truck has been making for about 6 months now. I would have looked at it sooner....but it'd been a long cold winter here in IA. Anyway.....took off the belt and spun the alternator, it growls like a bear.
I know a new one is like $300. A reman is around $150. I don't always trust remans, I know from first hand, I sell them at work. Anyone running a reman and how has it lasted for yah?

i got the same problem with my alternator i was just gonna take it in and get it rebuilt but as i noticed something leaking on my rims i decided to check the back brakes only to find out they are just a hair away from touching metal and that it wasn't brake fluid leaking it was an axel seal so now im in the midst of doing all the brakes and both rear axel seals for now.
You laugh, I put a junkyard 160 in place of the stock 136 10,000 miles ago for the same reason. So far so good.
how much was the junkyard piece?? Has anybody noticed that those junkyards are getting what the store wants sometimes more!! Like ther shlt is gold and we have to get it....f43k off i say price gouging dicks!!

yeah these junk yard prices are friggin ridiculous. My wallet cries just driving by them. I'd also get the lifetime replacement alternator. When the one on my old truck went out, I had one put on.
$50 shipped. I'll let you know if it's still there when I hit 200K (which with the way I get moved around and drive so much, shouldn't take all that long).
